My Justin Bieber experience all started on April 19th, when Justin tweeted ‘WHAT?!?! 11 BILLBOARD AWARD NOMINATIONS!! This is all thanks to all of U!! THIS IS CRAZY!! See everyone in VEGAS!! #LATENIGHTHYPED’.
Now, I get his tweets sent to my phone, and I was in the car with my mom when I recieved that tweet, and I started FREAKING. OUT. (if you haven’t already guessed, I live in Las Vegas.) I started screaming and I could not sit still. Because I KNEW this was my chance to see Justin in person.
As soon as I got home I ran to my computer and logged on to ticketmaster.com/ to check for tickets. Just my luck, they were [somewhat] expensive and the seats were in the very back. But I didn’t care, they were floor seats, and as long as I got to see him.
So I asked my mom for tickets , and at first she said no. She said they were expensive and we might not even see that good. But I begged and begged, saying they would count as my Sweet 16 present (even though my actual birthday wasn’t until June 7th), and she finally gave in and bought 3 tickets (1 for me, 1 for her, and 1 for my friend, who would pay her back later). She bought the floor seat tickets (if you look at a seating chart of MGM Garden Arena, we were in the blue section ‘F’. Which was all the way in the back, but still I was so hyped.
I tweeted, facebooked, and posted on tumblr, I was SO EXCITED!! I mean, just the thought that I’d get to be in the same room as Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Ke$ha, and so many more amazing artists that I’d looked up to for years<3
Finally, May 22nd arrived. I woke up super early, and wasn’t able to go back to sleep. It was finally REALLY starting to sink in. That night, I’d be at the BILLBOARD AWARDS. My friend had slept over that night, that morning we made a YouTube video expressing our excitement at the fact that Justin Bieber was finally in Vegas ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vi4bxsWmWfY ).
We watched T.V. for a little while, and we started getting ready around 11 that morning. It took us about 2 hours, and when we were done we could not sit still.
Finally we left to go to the MGM. The whole car ride there we were singing obnoxiously to his songs, freaking out at EVERY tweet he tweeted. When we got out of the car, we ran inside. Most people stopped and stared at us like we were crazy, us running in heels and dresses, me carrying my Justin Bieber posterboard that I made.
I got a little irritated because I heard stupid ignorant comments like ‘OH. I guess Justin Bieber’s here.’ and ‘I didn’t KNOW Justin Bieber was gonna be here.’ and people laughed at the fact that the only reason we spent $ on tickets was to go and support Justin.
We walked in the arena and took our seats, but got up and left to go “explore.” we looked (from the inside) at the white carpet in hopes of getting a glimpse at Justin or, really, any other celebrity. No such luck. Security told us we had to go back in and sit down, there was less than a half hour until the awards started.
We sat down, and looked around us. I was amazed at everything. The people around us were really nice, all of them smiling & being nice at the fact that we were here for Justin. They thought my poster was really cute and said that if Justin came near, they’d be sure to send him our way(;
Again, like 10 minutes before the awards started we walked up to the front where celebrities sit, in hopes of getting, maybe even just a glimpse of Justin. Right before we got to the front, a mean looking security guy stops us and asks to see our tickets. I told him “we’re not sitting up here, we just wanted to see Justin Bieber. Is he here yet?” He laughed and rudely said “No he’s not. But when he DOES come here, it’ll be my job to make sure you 2 little girls don’t bother him.” We walked back to our seats, a little upset, but still in awe.
Finally…the awards started. The host is Ken (from the Hangover) and he is really funny. Everyone was laughing and having fun. Now…this is embarrassing to say, but I’m pretty sure my friend and I were the only 2 there JUST for Justin. Because, they were showing small clips of celebrities faces, that were there in the audience. Justin and Jay-Z came on screen, and we jumped out of our seats, SCREAMING. EVERYONE near us (and even some people above us) turned and stared at us like we were insane. But we didn’t care(; I was amazed though that nobody else did.
We were the loudest (and I’m pretty sure only) Beliebers there. Every time Justin’s name was mentioned, whether it was for a joke or announcing an award he was up for, we shot up out of our seats and screamed our hearts out. Every time he WON an award, I held my sign up high and screamed louder than before.
During commercial breaks, you were allowed to get up and move around (it was the only time. During the live awards you couldn’t leave your seats because they were filming, and like I said, it’s live.) my friend and I decided to go walk around to look for celebrities. We were just about to walk up to the front when a different (all of the guys looked mean), and was like “NO. You can’t be here. Go sit down. NOW.”
All sad, we walked back to our seats. Just as we were about to sit down a lady (another security person, but she’s pretty & NICE) calls us over. And she asked what we were doing. After telling her we just wanted to get a glimpse of Justin she smiled…and held up 2 pink wristbands. “You guys wanna sit up front with the celebrities?”
We started screaming after she told us that. We started crying, and everyone around us was happy for us too. She explained that we would be what they called ‘seat fillers’ throughout the awards, they would move us throughout the arena so that when the cameras filmed it would look more full. I was full on crying at that moment.
She took us to the front, I was in the 2nd row, my friend in the 3rd, and I sat next to ZACH GALIFIANAKIS (also from the Hangover). I was in shock. Rihanna, Beyonce, both walked past me, and they were stunning in person. After awhile my friend got moved, but I stayed where I was, so I was completely alone and I didn’t know anyone.
After 2 more commercial breaks, during the next one, the same lady walked by me again and stopped to check on me. I looked at her and just asked where Justin was, and I only wanted to see him and maybe say hi. She smiled and said she’d be right back. After about a minute she came and said “alright you’re moving seats again.” so I got up and followed her.
Walked RIGHT PAST…TAYLOR SWIFT (who smiled at me) and about 10 other celebrities, before we came to a stop. “You’re looking for Justin Bieber right?” she asked me. I was a little confused. “Yeah, but I don’t see him.” She laughed and pointed behind me. “Turn around.”
I looked and he was RIGHT THERE. I walked past him and didn’t even see. He turned around and smiled at me before turning back to talk to Pattie and Selena (who both looked gorgeous by the way).
I sat down, seriously trying to not start crying/screaming again. About 2 other security people came and joined us, laughing saying how this was the greatest moment of my life (YES it was), and how I’d probably never stop freaking out. The awards started again and we all had to sit down.
For the ENTIRE rest of the awards show, whenever a commercial would come on and they’d stop filming (aka, when you could get out of your seats), I would just sit there and not move an inch, and cover my wristband. That was how the security people could figure out who to move and where to put new people. If you had a wristband, you had a chance of being moved somewhere around the arena. I was NOT letting them move me from Justin :P
I was still freaking out inside. For part of the awards Travis Barker did a little drum solo, on a pair of drums that was set up in the middle of the arena (on the floor seats). To see, everyone in the front would have to turn around. At first I didn’t know what was going on so I stayed facing front. And then Justin turned around to look, and ended up looking right at me.
I was speechless, all I could do was smile and wave. And he smiled back at me (for the 2nd time!) :) He is PERFECT in person. His clothes, his hair, his eyes, his SMILE, his face, EVERYTHING<3 I used to be one of those people that thought I’d never meet him but now I did, and I won’t ever forget it. :)
